Eclectic Chair is Heather Linnitt, a designer upholsterer, and collector of vintage and retro furniture and home accessories, based in Chapel Allerton, North Leeds.

My passion is furniture, particularly from the fifties to the seventies. High Street buys pale beside second hand pieces with colourful past lives. These pieces survive because they were built to last, and were also created with an artistry increasingly rare and precious in an age of mass production. The only part to sometimes suffer is the upholstery, which I can replace with my upholstery training.

I like to recycle and revive pieces with soul and style. Retro and vintage pieces sitting amongst a modern room scheme add personality and charm. And if you grew up seeing them in your parents or grandparents house, then they also give you that warm glow of nostalgia.

I also make gorgeous cushions from vintage silk scarves, which are far too beautiful to just be tied around a neck, or stuffed in a bedroom drawer!
